One thing I don't anyone has yet mentioned on this forum anywhere (AFAIK) is that you CAN EXPORT BACK TO.MXF from FCP using XDCAM Transfer. In FCP, select clip or sequence. Select File/Export/Sony XDCAM It'll export the clip/sequence to MXF. Now that means the playback computer must be able to playback MXF. Having bought my 2nd MacBook Pro now with intel chips etc. I was horrified to discover that when I downloaded the XDCAM EX: SxS PRO Device Driver (Mac V1.0.1807) it screwed up the MacBook Pro by taking 10-15mins to get to the desk top.

Final Cut Pro 10.2 supports Sony XAVC, XAVC S, XDCAM, XDCAM HD, and XDCAM EX media.
Before importing Sony XAVC and XDCAM media, verify that Pro Video Formats is installed on your system. Check for software updates and, if necessary, install the latest Pro Video Formats. (You can also manually download Pro Video Formats from the Apple Support website.) No additional software is required.

If you use Final Cut Pro version 10.1.4 or earlier

Note: If you want to import Sony XAVC S media, update to Final Cut Pro 10.2.
